Why I Wrote Lara’s Gift

Lara’s Gift was born from a desire to preserve memories, traditions and lessons that might otherwise be lost. Inspired y my beloved Nonna Pasqualina, my Sardinian roots and the importance of family, this book is my way of sharing stories recipes and values with future generations.

I believe food brings people together, language connects us to our heritage and memories deserve to be preserved.

About Lara

Lara was born in Sardinia, where she grew up surrounded by the traditions, flavours, and rhythms of Mediterranean life. She studied at the University of Cagliari before moving to the UK to follow her dreams and continue her journey. There, she graduated from the University of Essex in Language Studies, building the foundation for the path she would go on to create. She has now lived in the UK for almost 27 years—a place that has become home while still holding close her Italian roots. She is the proud mother of two children, now grown up, whose journeys have shaped and inspired her own. Languages have always been at the heart of what she does, and today she runs her own language school, sharing her passion with others. Food has also always been a central part of her life. Growing up in Sardinia, she was immersed in the Mediterranean diet and the values of a family of centenarians, where meals were not just nourishment, but connection, tradition, and longevity. This book reflects the threads of her journey—heritage, family, language, and the simple, enduring joy of food
